Camp on the EDGE

UPDATE: No more spots left. Camp on the EDGE (COTE) is a service-learning experience open for students currently finishing their 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th grade year.  For four days, our young people of the Church will live out their faith by engaging in service projects at Nativity and throughout the larger Burke community. Each day, we will reflect on the themes of Catholic Social Teaching (CST). We will also participate in CST simulations focused on social inequality, poverty, and the common good. This is a great way to grow in friendship and fellowship while also enacting God’s justice in our own local community.  COTE 2022 will take place from Tuesday, June 28 to Friday, July 1.

“[Solidarity] then is not a feeling of vague compassion or shallow distress at the misfortunes of so many people, both near and far. On the contrary, it is a firm and persevering determination to commit oneself to the common good; that is to say, to the good of all and of each individual, because we are all really responsible for all.”
—Pope St. John Paul II

“Kinship—not serving the other, but being one with the other. Jesus was not ‘a man for others;’ he was one with them. There is a world of difference in that.”
