Our History
The Felician Sisters, a community founded by Blessed Angela Truszkowska, responded to the invitation to staff Nativity Catholic School. On July 19, 1996, Sister Lisa Marie DiSabatino, Principal, and Sister Marie Victoria, Pastoral Minister, arrived in Burke, Virginia. On August 16, 1996, Sister Therese Marie Bednarczyk arrived to teach in the school.
The doors of Nativity Catholic School opened for the first time on August 26, 1996. The school has now been providing the highest level of education and faith formation to students for nearly thirty years. Ms. Maria Kelly became the principal on July 1, 2001 and has been faithfully leading our school ever since.
The faculty and staff at Nativity have consistently stayed at the forefront of teaching methodology, and have received recognition for their efforts. In 2008, Nativity Catholic School was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. For the 2024-2025 school year, Nativity was recognized as a STEM School of Excellence by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association. In 2025, Nativity also earned the National Certificate for STEM Excellence from the National Institute for STEM Education.
Let us pray that Nativity Catholic School will continue to provide our parish community with an opportunity for a Catholic education rich in academics and rooted in the gospel values.
