Middle School (6-8)
Nativity offers 6th, 7th and 8th graders a High School preparatory program based on individual academic excellence with a foundation in faith.
We are focused on our partnership with parents to help guide students through this critical transition from childhood to young adulthood. Nativity provides a nurturing environment where middle school students flourish through personalized attention, advanced academics, and leadership, while stressing the importance of faith and community. Middle school students learn to lead by example and initiative.
Students follow the Curriculum Guidelines of the Arlington Diocese.
We offer advanced math classes, a comprehensive hands-on lab-based science program, a strong Spanish language program, in addition to art, physical education, library and music classes throughout the middle school curriculum.
Our middle school electives program encourages students to develop passions and explore areas of interest both within and outside the core curriculum. Electives classes are designed and managed by the Middle School teachers. Middle school students select a new elective each trimester. The areas of focus for electives include Academics and STEM, Leadership and Service, Artistic Expression, Reading/Writing/Language Arts, Performing Arts, and Health/Wellness. Elective offerings differ each trimester and the Middle School teachers strive to provide students with a variety of opportunities to develop existing interests and to explore new ones. Electives are designed to enrich and enhance the development of students both academically and socially.
We offer students a 1:1 Chromebook program to keep learning at a modern pace. Further we utilize our technology-driven classrooms with interactive ActivPanels and document cameras. Students have access to a 3D printer during Technology classes. Robotics classes and time in our dedicated Makerspace are provided across all grade levels.
Our Middle School religious program includes retreats, outreach and community service projects and programs culminating in 8th grade Confirmation. During Middle School years we go further in depth into our faith.
Students are typically eligible for a variety of enriching after-school activities. Currently, they are all on hold due to COVID.
